The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

Went to watch The Hobbit of course, in 3D. I do have issues with 3D, I can only half see it so that makes it a little disappointing but none the less the film was amazing. Noticed they didn't go down the same route as they did with the first one in terms of filming, little to none of the magic hour shooting. The colours were much better in this one but clearly this decision was made to distance from the Shire and to the more gritty. I really loved the gritty look they gave some locations. I liked how it was less about showing off the landscape like in the previous one. Those spiders were crazy but funny at the same time. It's a lot better than part 1 but follows on nicely, you can see the progression with the story and how they reflect that in the film making and style choices. Again, people not happy with the ending, seems to be a theme with film series' but where else would they have left it considering they're squeezing another one out of it. In a way I can see why they'd want a third, audience is happy because they got a lot of of it and tells most of the story but do they? I've heard people complain about bits missing and changes made for the film. Also more money out of it the longer they drag it out but as I've heard theres not much story left at this point so looks like they're really dragging it out. Splitting a film into two is alright but three is excessive. Regardless of that you should still give it a watch it's really good.
